The papaya tree belongs to the family of Caricaceae. It grows wild from southern Mexico to Costa Rica and is an important tropical crop. Its melon-like, oval fruit can reach a weight of up to 6 kilograms. The skin is yellowish-green, the flesh is orange and contains little black seeds in the middle.

Not only does the papaya produce a tasty fruit, it also has many beneficial effects on health. It can help with digestive disorders, bleeding gums, gout and rheumatism.

The papaya has an amazingly wide range of positive effects in cosmetics. It is high in antioxidants, protects the cells and has rejuvenating and revitalizing properties. Moreover, it has a keratolytic effect, meaning that it dissolves “keratinized” or dead skin cells.
